Ghost Controls Welding & Fabrication: The Chandler Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Ghost Controls-compatible welded brackets, hinge assemblies, and gate-mount hardware for Chandler homeowners, with most fabrication repairs running $280-$520 installed depending on steel gauge and whether the post itself needs reinforcement. Same-day service is available when the part is in our Chandler inventory, which covers the common TSS1, DTP1, and DTP1XP series hinge kits. Most owners discover the problem when their gate motor runs but the gate drags, shudders, or stops short because a cracked weld has let the bracket shift a quarter-inch out of true.

Which Ghost Controls Models This Applies To

Ghost Controls welding and fabrication issues show up across their full residential line, but the bracket geometry differs by series. The TSS1 (single swing) and TSS1XP heavy-duty units use a 2-inch by 4-inch mounting plate with a 3/8-inch through-bolt pattern. The DTP1 and DTP1XP dual-swing kits use a wider yoke bracket, 4 inches by 6 inches, with dual shear points that take more stress and fail more often in Chandler’s hard, expansive soil. The newer AX and NX series use a slimmer profile bracket that looks similar but won’t bolt to the older post mounts without slot modification.

To identify your part, check the white label on the motor housing for the series code, then measure your bracket center-to-center on the bolt holes. OEM Ghost Controls brackets run $45-$85 for the stamped steel units; we also source commercial-grade 11-gauge fabricated equivalents from a Tempe shop that TIG-welds the stress joints instead of spot-welding them. For a gate over 14 feet or one that sees daily use in Chandler’s heat and UV, the fabricated equivalent usually outlasts the OEM by three to four years. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Ghost Controls.

Signs Your Ghost Controls Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

Signs Your Ghost Controls Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
  • The motor hums but the gate moves unevenly. A cracked weld at the arm-to-bracket joint lets the actuator push against a flexing surface instead of solid steel. The motor works harder, draws more amps, and eventually overheats.
  • The gate sags at full open or full closed. The bottom hinge bracket has worked loose where it’s welded to the gate frame, often from the daily vibration of a heavy wrought-iron gate. In Chandler, the thermal expansion from 115-degree afternoons to 65-degree desert nights accelerates this.
  • Bolt holes have wallowed out to ovals. The bracket itself is intact but the holes have elongated from years of slop. This usually means the bracket was under-spec’d for the gate weight, a common issue on DIY installations where a standard-duty Ghost Controls kit got paired with a custom iron gate.
  • Rust bleeding from the weld seam. Arizona’s dry climate doesn’t prevent corrosion at the weld; it just hides it longer. Once you see orange streaking, the weld has already cracked internally and is holding by surface contact.
  • The gate binds after a windstorm or monsoon. The bracket hasn’t failed yet, but the post has shifted in softened ground. The fabrication fix isn’t replacing the bracket; it’s welding a gusset plate to stiffen the post-to-bracket joint so it doesn’t repeat.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Service Price Range What’s Included
Bracket weld repair (local, single point) $180-$280 Grind, re-weld, prime, and photographic record
Full bracket replacement, standard duty $280-$380 Aftermarket or OEM bracket, removal, install, alignment check
Full bracket replacement, heavy-duty fabricated $380-$520 11-gauge custom bracket, gusset reinforcement, 2-year weld warranty
Post reinforcement with new bracket $450-$650 Steel sleeve or concrete collar, bracket, full rehang and limit reset

What drives the range: steel gauge (14-gauge OEM versus 11-gauge fabricated), whether we can weld in place or must remove the gate to a flat surface, and whether the post itself has rotted at grade or cracked at the weld line. The price we write on the estimate sheet is the price on the invoice. Under Haven Standard Clause 1, you’ll have that number before anyone strikes an arc. Every fabrication job carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise, and under Clause 4, you get a photo log of the crack, the weld bead, and the reassembled gate before we leave.

There’s a short list of checks that won’t hurt you: confirming the model number on the motor label, photographing the bracket from three angles for us to review, and verifying whether the gate drags with the motor disconnected (which tells us it’s mechanical, not electrical). Beyond that, welding a loaded gate bracket involves working under hundreds of pounds of iron, sometimes with tension still on the actuator arm. The bracket can shift without warning. We’ve been called to Chandler jobs where a homeowner’s repair held for two weeks, then let go and tore the motor off the post.

If you’re comfortable with a tape measure and a camera, start there. If the weld is cracked or the bolt holes are wallowed, the fix needs a welder, a level, and a second set of hands. Call (520) 827-3159 and we’ll review your photos at no charge. If we come out, you’ll get a written price before the hood goes up on the truck.
